(01) The Park in Lomonosov includes six Palaces and many items dating back to the Czars. Pictured are: (Left to right) Edward Rogaishio, Nancy Bailey, a Russian friend, Jackson Madnick, Peter Gouveia, Russian teacher Galina Bogomolova, Anjali Pandeya, Joan Gouveia, Arun Pandeya (kneeling), Cecilia Capitanio, a Russian friend, Julia Olander, Robert Lawson, Grant Hodsdon.

(02) Kolorit, the Russian art group, arranged an exhibit at the Japanese Pavilion of Prince Menchikov's Palace, the main palace in the Park. The Guild artists had brought their paintings with them and they were shown here with the Russian artists'. A grand formal reception followed. Pictured is the day after the reception.

(03) The Chinese Palace is another palace in the Park. While the artists were there, they were treated to observing the movie 'Anna Karenina' being filmed on location.

(04) This is a composite picture because the palace is too wide to photo even with a wide angle lens. The Japanese Pavilion where the exhibit was held is to left and rear of the palace. The distance to the pavilion is as far back as is across the front of the palace. At one time, a channel had been cut from the palace grounds to the Gulf of Finland so that Peter the Great could more easily visit his favorite friend.

(05) Peter Paul Fortress is across the Neva River from the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg. It was the military stronghold of the capital city. It houses the royal tombs and a large prison as well as barracks and other buildings.

(06) Interred in a cathedral in the Peter Paul Fortress are the remains of many royalty including Catherine the Great and Peter the Great.

(07) The Grand Palace of Peter the Great has over a hundred fountains throughout the grounds. Pictured here are the falls and fountains at the rear of the palace. There was also, a waterway from here to the Gulf of Finland.

(08) During the war, Leningrad, the renamed St. Petersburg, was encircled by German troops for 900 days. There was great destruction and death but the city survived. One section of the monument's circle is broken to commemorate the breaking of the siege.

(09) On the grounds of the Grand Palace there are various musical groups to entertain visitors. Also, there is an area where visitors can have their photos taken dressed in costumes of Peter the Great's day. Pictured is Cecilia Capitanio.
